POOPED OUT    This is my nephew Kyle and our wonder dog .. Zip.. I took this after a very long fishing trip in which Mr. Kyle caught the biggest fish of the day.. and Zip smelled everything possible, within a mile radius of our little picnic site. They were a pooped out pup and his boy by that evening, getting ready to go home.. snapped this when we had to wake them up to get in the truck to go home. Photo taken with a Kodak EasyShare C330 digital camera and edited in Microsoft Photo Editor Standard 2006

This is simply a great photo editor I use a lot. It is a free download from Google and a few years ago this same softwear cost well over $100. It is also the doorway into the Picasa Web Albums. A lot like Photobucket.. but offers a lot more privacy settings and better quality in your photos viewing.
If you are looking for an editor with super light, color, and contrast editing this is it! It has a lot of other features such as converting a slideshow into html code for your webpage .. but they do not host it for you.. you can make a slideshow movie with mp3 music from your computer and upload it to the web album site and they will give you the html codes to post it on your blog.
You have to be careful as with any freedownloads.. they will try to hook the google toolbar, google earth.etc. onto the download and make Picasa your default photo editor.. you just have to be diligent and when they try to connect to the net block them.. or if they want to put the program as a startup item.. block it.. or it will start and slow your machine down by monitoring your picture downloads and what ever else they sneak into it.. but if your careful.. you can get only the editor and be glad you did.

Well my friends... since my last blog .. I have been broke down on the side of the road, rescued by Homer, stood up Jerry, didn't get to dig in the dirt, besieged by storms of evil and violent intent, ran over my dog, called Jerry's son by mistake about 15 times, turned away from the Sizzler because of no power, guided a bewildered Jerry to a motel which actually had power and vacancy, went for KFC but had to settle for Taco Bell because KFC was hit by a tornado and had to have structural work done to it.. and finally found something that Arkansas had to offer besides heartburn, sunburn, horseflies, and mosquitoes to Jerry... whew!

I'm worn out, how bout y'all?

It is the Lockie curse that has plagued me for most of my life... I have these nasty little crittersI call gremlins, who follow me around, to create chaos in an otherwise really pretty dull and predictable life. Just let me make a plan.. pick up a pencil and make a list of things to do today.. and they are all over me like white on rice!

But anyway.. Jerry was all for sightseeing for a while and so I took him to the famous Judge Issac C. Parkers courthouse and took a tour of the basement jail and then the jail they built at a later date.. and the actual courtroom itself.. all of the furnishing are reproductions I suppose.. but they sure looked the part to me if they were.

Then over to the gallows he had specially built.. they are built to hang 6 people at a time. hehehe.. He wasn't know as the Hanging Judge for nothing ya know! He was the last word in law on the border back when Oklahoma and Arkansas were filled with outlaws and hostile indians. He hired the men to find them and when they brought them in.. he listened to their pleas and the evidence and then .. strung 'em up if they were guilty.. He sentenced 136 men to be hung by the neck until dead and 2 women.. the women were never hung, because of a higher court appeal ruling.. but they did the crime and he sentenced them to the same punishment he would have a man.. He was the first supporter of equal rights for women I suppose.. he was a libber!!!

Before we went to the Park.. we stopped off at another great historical site here in my world.. Miss Laura's Social Club.. which in short was a bordello run by a lady by the name of Miss Laura.. it has since then been a restaurant and now a museum of wonderful things that were a part of life back then.. I made a slide show.. but I am also going to put them into an album uploaded here to Multiply if you would like to see them with captions as to what they are.

Jerry is back in Pennsylvania, I am still sitting waiting for the rain to quit for more than 24 hours so I can go and search for my diamond that is waiting for me.. and Iggwad is still just.. Iggwad!

This is a download page for a free photo editing software. It is really exceptional in its quality and ease of use for a free download. To resize a photo is simple and easy.. and the end product is very good quality in a light weight custom sized photo.
The only problem I have with it is when you install it.. be careful at how much authority you give it over your photos. It can be invasive and very hard to change once you have given it the power.

Miss Laura's Social Club

     Historical District Ft. Smith, Ark.   I took this picture June 18, 2008 while showing a friend some of the tourist attractions we have in Ft. Smith, Ark. This is an industry which is known as the oldest profession on earth, and they are always successful.. haven't heard of one closing it doors because of lack of customers yet!  Yes, this is a bordello that was run by a lady that everyone called Miss Laura. It is dated from the early 1900's and has been placed on the national registry of historical residences and businesses. It has been restored twice once from age and deterioration and then a tornado damaged it in 1996 once again. I wish I could have shown more than one picture.. the inside is simply TOO COOL! lol..   I used a Easy Share Kodak Z712 IS camera and both  Kodak and Microsoft Digital PhotoEditor Standard to capture and edit the picture. The angle that I had to stand and take the picture did not lean toward a very straight photo.. but I did the best I could.

Image Resizer Powertoy for Windows XP Free Download

Microsoft has a lot of wonderful little gadgets for Windows XP, called Power Toys. The one I use constantly is their Image Resizer. It is a very small lightweight application that sits on your dropdown menu when you are choosing an image to upload to the net. It will take a huge photo and resize it to the same dimensions but with 1/3 of kbs used in the original.. with hardly any clarity loss.. It offers many preset sizes and then it of course it does have the custom size option also as well as one for mobile phone uploading..

This page also has many other powertoys for XP you might like as well.. to find the download link for this Image Resizer look to the right hand side of the page about half way down..
I recommend it as a useful tool that you will use everyday. I know I do..
Who would ever have thought it possible.. a product from Microsoft that actually is simple and makes working with photos on the internet computer so much more enjoyable!

TIME FOR THE LOCKERRIDGE VACATION...

Well it is that time of year when my persistence may yet be the death of me.. I am once more going to attempt to find my 15 minutes of fame by digging for a record breaking diamond in my home state of Arkansas...

My lunacy has proven to be contagious .. my friend here on the 360 or Multiply or just in the world, Jerry Armstrong.. the Giant Panda.. is meeting me at the park and we are going to try to attempt a camping trip/treasure hunt/workshop for avoidance of mosquitos type of vacation.

JUNE 6, 2008  ~ PICTURE PERFECT THEME ~ CURVES     This is my first entry into the Picture Perfect Theme of the Week Site. My name is Lockerridge or Terri, whichever you prefer. I live in the state of Arkansas, and the photo I have presented to you today  was taken with a Kodak Easy Share Z712 IS with a 12x zoom, at sunset. This is a new camera to me with so many bells and whistles and settings, that I was amazed when I downloaded the shots to my computer .. I actually had pictures to see! I hope to improve with experience, and perhaps Kodak will send my Pdf tutorial soon.  Directions do have a tendancy to help one in using a product don't they?    So it was simpler to use the Smart Choice setting on the camera and let it choose its own best preference for the type of shutter speed and flash to use, for now.   ~ I was on a  fishing trip, last Saturday, to the section of the Arkansas River called Vine Prarie. What you are seeing are several curves, that the channel of the river takes to wind around the fields of crops, that are growing next to it. ~  We have been above Flood stage here for months it seems and the water has finally receeded so that the farmers  can get into their fields now. So everything is teaming with life and when I considered the theme and what picture I might have that was simply curving lines and cirlces.. loops.. I thought of the rivers gentle winding into the sunset.. even though you lose sight of it.. you know it continues on to the ocean.. The birds all were flying loops and fishing for the shad that were in big schools just beneath the surface of the water.. the egrets are white and are so graceful in flight.. the sun shines off their feathers and they are simply a study in God's creation at its purest and most beautiful.  ~ The clouds and the sun met at a graceful arch and sent out the most beautiful colors into the sky and in turn the water reflected them back as an echo that made me just stare and marvel.  ~  I used the Kodak capture and edit software to get the pictures onto my computer and then took them into my Microsoft Standard Digital Photo Editor version 2006. I played with it, using several different things like color saturation.. contrast, levels, focus, and then shapen value no. 1. This was my end product..  ~ To me this represents all things that meander gently and gracefully through our lives..coloring our days with memories and beauty. But that  which was beautiful and serene in our lives,  can also become out of control and swiftly take us into a situation we did not ever want to be in. And then it reminds us that it will pass away.. and the gentle flow will return.. and the colors will still be beautiful...     lockerridge

The time had come in the life and times of lockerridge, to replace a Kodak camera that was part of a camera/photo printer dock package, that was ruined during a run for shelter from the seige of tornado,hail, and wind damage that has taken over Arkansas this spring of 2008.

I opted to replace it with
another Kodak camera that would adapt to my photo printer dock that will recharge my batteries as well as print my photos directly from the camera.
I was aware that the simple camera, would only produce video files in the .mov file type. This is a problem if you have a computer with Windows and not a Mac from Apple, as this video file type will only be played on a Quicktime media player from Apple.

Determined to not buy a camera with only that one file type produced.. I proceeded with the usual procedure.
I searched and browsed and checked and compared.. and settled on the Kodak Z712 IS would suit my needs wonderfully and probably forever.
I asked the clerk where I bought the camera if the two sets of rechargable batteries from my old camera would work in the new one as well.. also if the video file type of this new Kodak was capable of producing .mov and .avi as well..
He assured me that whatever I desired could be had with the new camera.. and that of course the batteries would interchange as Kodak only has one kind of rechageable battery in thier products..

( the camera cost me more than the previous dock and camera combined did.. it should be able to get Brad Pitt to star in my videos if I wanted it too!)

Imagine my shock.. and then irritation ... and then plain ole pissed off to the maximum .. when I discovered the guy lied to me.

Imagine that!

Now picture this in your mind folks.. this new camera will connect to my printer dock directly, just as the old one did.. but the batteries are not rechargable that comes with the camera.. and .. hang onto your hat here.. they cost 20 dollars apiece to replace them!

The rechargable ones that are made specifically for this camera cost 35 dollars.. if you can find them in a store.. thank goodness for Best Buy in Fayetteville, Arkansas.. college town.. they have the newest of anything you find on the net.. in stock. This part of the purchase fiasco fixed.. I settled into a somewhat calmer state of mind.. but then..

It would not produce any type of video file except .mov.

Little bubbles started popping in my brain.. yep.. brain boil..

I contacted Kodak about my problem and asked for a solution from them.. their return mail told me the solution was to purchase the Quicktime Pro from Apple .. of course.
This they jubilantly explained to me.. would give me editing options and a player to play the videos with as well.

I replied asking for the forms to fill out and address to return
their camera to them and get my money refunded to me, explained in great detail that this was a complete and total misrepresentation of their product.. there is no information to be had on either the Kodak website, store, or help and support pages as to this even being something that is not given to the customer as a personal choice type option.

I have not heard from them yet..

BIG SURPRISE HUH?

Later after the blood vein in my temple was restored to normal proportions..
I set about, researching the problem through the Microsoft help and solutions pages..
I find that Microsoft has allowed Apple to develope and use freely a converter which allows Quicktime to play and edit .avi and .wma Microsoft media player files.
"BUT" Apple does not return this favor to Microsoft.

WTF?????

THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

THIS MEANT.. WAR!

NANNY NANNY POO POO KODAK/QUICKTIME NAZI TACTICS!!!!!!

have a link to a splicer that another site is offering so you can restore it to one file.
I can now take my videos.. edit them right there in their editor.. and then convert them from .mov to .wma, any of the alphabet is supported it would seem.. even .flp and shockwave file types
from obsure places can be converted.. and it is very fast ..
