IF I WERE A FROG

Someday's it just does not seem to be worth the trouble. Let me give you an example of me trying to get a simple thing done like taking my company car to get it serviced.
The policy is that every 7500 miles or when the life of the oil in the car is below 30 percent, we need to take the company car in to have it serviced. This is taken care of for us by a service center that is contracted by the company. It is no cost to the employee except the trouble of having the interruption in their daily routine.
Since I am new to the job and since I was fortunate enough back in May to have my very first ever traffic accident which resulted in the totaling of my car.. not me.. just the car.. and I was given a new one to drive.. I have not had to have it serviced yet. Well.. to tell the truth, I had no idea when this was to take place since I did not read the stuff they provide for us to read in the glove compartment of the car.
( shhhh... that will be our little secret okay?)
Anyway in the course of the end of the day on Wednesday of last week, I overheard one of my co workers telling the guidelines and when I got into my car to go home.. let me just say I was about twenty five hundred miles over, and so I determined this was to be remedied right away!
So on Thursday, when I got to work I asked if the extra car was being used by anyone, and got permission to drive it that day and another lady followed me to the service place and we dropped it off. They were busy and so I put the keys in the cup holder and jumped in the other ladies car and went back and picked up the extra to drive home and back the next day.. thinking by two in the afternoon, it would be done.
Any other time this would have been great
but .. when your ole pal lockie did it.. it did not work out at all.. sigh.. I got to work and called and the guy that answered, asked me what I wanted done to the car.. that they could not find the keys to it.. and blah blah blah.. which was a pile of malarkey ... cause when I hung up.. my supervisor said.. humm.. " Hang on a minute"... so I hung on of course. He called them and low and behold.. they had not even gone out to the thing to see if the keys were in it.. they found them of course.. profuse apologies.. blah blah blah..
So I drove the extra car on my route and expecting to pick up my car when I was done.. called them and this time a lady answered and put me on hold.. for fifteen minutes.. then came on the line to say.. it would be Saturday afternoon before it was done.. sigh..
So I told her to please just lock it up and I would pick it up on Monday.
I had already unloaded all my personal stuff from the loaner car and had to tote it all back out and then I realized it needed fuel.. my fuel credit card was in my car getting serviced.. and my boss had not put his in the loaner car like he said he would.. so.. after work I went up to the service place and tried unsuccessfully to get into my car to get my card.. sigh.. sigh.. sigh..
I put a little bit of gas in the car to get me home and back again cause if you do that kind of thing.. you never.. ever get that money back.. no matter how much you requisition it .. it just don't happen.
When I got to work yesterday, I called and my car was ready to go. My boss gave me a ride in the loaner car to pick it up and dropped me off and went back to the lab. It took a little while to wait my turn and get my keys and blah blah blah..
Got in it and wouldn't you know it.. it needed fuel... and my card was not in the car where I had left it.. so .. I went back in to see if they had put it somewhere for me.. but nope they had not.. hummm... stranger and stranger..
Went back to the lab with time running really really short for me to make my pickups on time, and my boss was gone somewhere and had absentmindedly put the keys to the loaner in his pocket, and all my stuff was still in it.. sigh..
But upon inspection of his desk drawer I did find a fuel card! Yippee! right? Wrong.....
He didn't care that I took the card, but he was the one who had gone and got the fuel card out of my car and had forgotten about it.. so the card I used was his.. and when I tried to use it to put fuel in my car.. it came back that I had to call the provider because the mileage I had given it to use was totally wrong.. sigh.. sigh..
So I ended up putting ten dollars worth out of my pocket in it to get my route taken care of.. all this time.. my two way is yelling at me to explain what was wrong with the card, and what did I need them to do for me to fix it.. ( I work with some really nice people).. to which I had no answer for them except,
"Please stop yelling at me ... I almost got kicked out of the women's clinic and got some really nasty looks from the security guard at the hospital!"
They said ..
"Oh.. okay.. did the guard pull his gun on you?"
I said,
"No.. but he gave me the evil eye... I probably will have hair growing out of my nose a foot long, and it is all your fault!"
They said they would chip in for a bottle of Nair and not to worry about it.
Did I mention I work with some really mentally disturbed people? I fit right in!
So the day ended with me getting my car back, but now having to use a different fuel card.. that might work.. or might not.. haven't tried it yet..
But you notice.. I did not give up..
The frog would have been proud!

That was nice listening! I noticed the song ended just as I got to the end of your story - hahaha good timing!
ReplyDeleteSo, that's why my nose hair is so long? LOL
You did yourself proud there girl! Give yourself a big pat on the back. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteLOL.......next time, keep your fuel card close ok? Some kid has a full tank of gas now I guess!
ReplyDeleteI am proud of you that you didn't give up. We all have days like that and they aren't much fun.
ReplyDelete(I think I would fit right in at your work.0
Yep..
ReplyDeleteIf I pat myself on the back.. I will probably throw out a disc or something.. better safe than sorry, so I will just think about the pat.. maybe that won't get the gremlins attention.
ReplyDeleteNah you can't use the fuel credit cards unless you have an employee id number and the mileage of the odometer when you fill up.. and as you can see.. it will not allow you to fuel up two different cars with the one fuel card.. that is why I left it in my car.. my boss got it out cause he left his in his desk at work.. was easier to get mine than go back to the lab and get his.. (apparently he didn't know about the " no can switch cars and cards rule either at the time). but your thoughts did run through my mind about it like you said.. after all.. they did keep it for three days and two of them were a weekend.. but if they tried it.. they were really disappointed.. trust me.. it sucks when the text on the pump says.. Contact The Card Provider Please Before You Can Make Another Transaction.
ReplyDeleteYou speak as if it is a rare occurrence in others lives.. I have never experienced this joy of living .. ever. LOL.. but I try to have as much fun as possible dealing with it!
ReplyDeleteI have days like this ... way to many if you ask me. lol
ReplyDeleteWhere the simplest little thing can wreak havoc with my day.
But we just keep on keeping on :)
Oh deary me, what a day! *Hugs and hands over a nice cuppa tea and some chocolate* :)
ReplyDeleteand going and going and going.. and freaking going .. lol.. hiya Peg... hows the new momma and baby doing.. your going to always have horses on your land.. just face it girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dory.. and better make that 2 of everything and supersize it.. at my job.. if you have food or drink.. you better bring enough for everyone.. or your in so much troooouuubbbllleeee.. and they will take it away from you and eat it in front of you.. bullies! wink!
ReplyDelete*Hands over 2 lots of tea and 2 lots of chocolate* :)
ReplyDeleteTer, this blog reminds me of my favorite frog's--Kermit--song about being green. At first he says it ain't ez to be green, then he realizes how magical that color is, how magical it is to be himself. Sounds like no matter what, you are yourself. That goes a long way, even in the frustrating and tough times. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteYour a life saver!
ReplyDeleteWell... about a year ago.. I let somebody convince me I was not a good person. Then that person did some really rotten things to me, while I was trying to convince them not to think so badly of me. That took me a while to sink in the significance of that coming into being.
ReplyDeleteIf that person could be that rotten, and not care what it did to me or to somebody else whom they professed their undying love for.. what in the world was I thinking when I took the blame on myself for them being so rotten?
I am a good person. I am worthy of something and someone who will acknowledge that fact to be allowed into my life and that is all there is to that! I am not perfect, but I am honest and I am more demanding of the people I allow in my airspace these days. I will be respected .. or they will not be in my airspace, even if I love them.
Yeah, recent events over the past year had me doubting that being myself was an okay thing to be. But like I say.. I am just me.. and if they don't like me.. well.. I can't do anything to help that, but you know what? I don't think I much care if they do or not, matter of fact.. I just might not like them back!
ReplyDeleteI am finding myself again after a long time of being lost, and the old me surfaces enough to know.. it is all vanity.. all of it.. somedays your the bird.. somedays your the worm.. like my friend Dani says. So it is my lot in life to be the worm a lot more than the bird.. but.. I will never give up... I will be first worm who knows karate if that is what it takes to keep from being eaten alive!
Like is so complicated sometimes...even to get a simple task done.
ReplyDeleteThis kind of thing happens on a daily basis most of the time in my life. I get scared if something goes right the first time like it is suppose to, keep waiting for the ZAPPO.. and sometimes that is worse than if it had screwed up! LOL
ReplyDeleteAww, Lockie! I love your Story! I sometimes misplce my tenacity ...lol... Glad you persevered.
