Well hello there all you friends of lockerridge.. WOW!.. I was not aware that there was that many of you.. whoa! hehehe.. I gotta start combing my hair more often! As you know I have been in a running battle to place my own video into my own blog without interference from the bowels of Multiply... or Yahoo.. and they had defeated me.. but you guys know me better than to think I would just give up don't ya? 
You better believe the milkbone attitude I have been cursed with all my life is still alive and kicking me in the bunny butt everyday... sigh.. I have come across a free and totally useful item, within which I hope to win this goal for myself, and give you guys an extra added bonus of more web control and use as well.. 
What I have found is called DivX.. which is probably older than I am and everyone knows about it already.. if this is the case.. don't say one damn word about it! I am on shaky ground here people..

In my Tryit Editor it works.. in the four pretests on this very site it has worked.. PLEASE OH PLEASE WORK THIS TIME! If you can't see the player.. you can click onto the icon below or one of the links below it or maybe the link that is on the player itself. This is a FREE DOWNLOAD! 
It is small in size so it won't take up a lot of room on your machine.. and from what I can gather.. a lot of people on the net now use this type of file to put their media onto their web pages.. The other file types... like the .swf and .fla require a lot of computer power and the quality is inferior to the DivX video quality. So here we go...

sigh.. no vid, sorry. I see a gray and green box.. blank.. shows a play button clicked it and my *Real Player threw up a message saying *Real Player needs to update. I let it do its thing and it found no updates to install. So I downloaded and installed the *DivX.. still no change, still can not see the vid.

Still same empty space. Has a play, rew/ff buttons. But says on it there is no information available.

I just contacted the them with an email.. and hopefully they will give us a fix for this.. I am not giving this one up.. this video quality is the best I have ever seen! good night sweet pea.. love ya..

ReplyDeleteFirst off the page itself never finished loading. So I stopped the loading and hit the play button. It started buffering (very slowly) and when it got to 53% it started to play. While watching the vid the rest of the screen darkened (very cool) and only the video remained. That was using Opera the preferred browsers of coyotes everywhere. I’ll try it later in IE but I have to run off to work.
Okay.. I'm hearing the music.. seeing Nothing.. It took over a minute to buffer. It automatically started playing once buffering was complete. But I let it play out the entire length - listening to the music, then read Coyotes comment then pressed play to view it.. still only hear the song, no picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm using IE browser.. I will go into Firefox and see what happens there. Since Firefox opened right after download was complete.

ReplyDeleteOK My machine at work runs Win 98. I know I know but I have to because the cad/cam program I use only works in 98. My IE is 6 (I don't think 98 can use IE7) and I have the latest Opera browser (unlike at home where I use a much older version). Bottom line NOTHING absolutely zilch nada nutin'!!! No player or anything.
BTW I'm not downloading that program. I bet it's a trojan horse that you plan on using to steal my porn site passwords. Seriously (like I can use that word with a straight face) I'm betting that DivX does not like 98.
I'm scared of adding new downloads to my computer at this point and time and I've never heard of this one and dont know how compatable it is with other stuff I might have.......glad to hear from you though!

ReplyDeleteJust so everyone knows which link worked for me if they're having trouble .. I have Windows Vista and clicked on the link under the big box that was empty at first in one of the two lines that reads, "No video? Get the DivX Web Player for Windows or Mac" ....

ReplyDeleteThis is a link to a k lite codec package that includes a media player that will play anything people! It will even play .mov video files without a smirk or a belch! .mov video files are Apple and you guys know Apple.. they are not nice Apples or Oranges.
Wile it won't work on Windows 98 .. but if at home you have 2000, XP or Vista.. no problems at all! It is not spyware.. or adware or underware.. There is no condoms in anything I am recommending to you guys at all.. I have checked it for a string or a piece of lint and it ain't there! it is just something that is free that is too cool for W3 School! DivX has been around since 2001 and is basically a Developers website, most of the things they offer to folks for free or for a very small fee ( usually 10.00 dollars ) are developed by the community they are growing .. and it is very large community!
All you need is the Standard package.. it includes all the up to date codecs for ffshow and all the X's and Y's and a few Z's.... It does not conflict with anything on my machine so far and I can watch anything I want to watch.. and that ffshow thing is too cool! Crisp .. Clear.. and right now!
If you download the Standard Package of Klite Codec Pack and the DivX player you should be able to see this video and so much more when you are surfing the web without any problems at all.. added bonus is that if you burn CD's or DVD's then your machine will be equipped to do it for you with all the codecs in this package without even telling you it is doing it .. You will just get smooth and easy burning capbilities.. Reason Lockie knows this stuff.. Lockies burner stopped working right when she was doing a project of burning this very slideshow to DVD's for her family.. had to buy an external burner.. and talk about a mess! K lite fixed it for me.

I KNOW .. IS THIS NOT TOO COOL? THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO IS SIMPLY FANTASTIC... AND YOU CAN EVEN GO FULL SCREEN WITH IT AND IT DOES NOT CHANGE THE QUALITY AT ALL! THIS IS A GOOD THING FOLKS!
ReplyDeleteThere is not a condom anywhere in this stuff.... oh wile one! I hath checked and rechecked and double the triple check and McAfee.. and Antispyware says it is green and good to go.. machine is running tip top and no problems at all..
ReplyDeletebut it has to be with 2000, XP, or Vista.. they are reporting a few problems with it running in Vista but that was what the last upgrade was for.. and I think they got it whipped. I have been trying forever it seems like to find a good thing for this that none of these damn blogging sites can block.. this is it folks!

ReplyDeleteMy first machine was a used 8088 (I think?) No HD had to boot from a 5 .5 floppy. Then I got a 286 with a wopping 20mb HD and DOS 3.sumtin'. I was on the net before hyper links and the WWW. Ya had to telnet where ya wanted to go and ya had better know yer unix commands.
But then at one point I was sick fer a couple of days and tecnology passed me by. Never did catch up.

5382 kbps with 512 RAM like you but there is some nasties in it and my burner died not to mention one of the fans sounds like a model T. Time for a new machine I guess but no VISTA.
I can see it in Firefox.. but not when using IE7. It is so cool in Firerox! the screen dims and all there is , is the vid. So.. now what - I dun't know. Just go to Firefox when you post a vid! YEAH! That works for me.
